How can initial teacher education transform pre-service teachers' perceptions about science education?
Future science teachers enter their initial training with strong ideas about teaching, often shaped by the traditional lessons they experienced as students and the teacher they hope to become. Unless they make these beliefs explicit and question them, they tend to persist in their practice. This line designs, implements and evaluates training strategies that help pre-service teachers rethink these models and adopt constructivist approaches such as inquiry, context-based learning and STEM projects. Combining educational innovation and research within the Master’s in Secondary Education, it aims to improve the quality of science teacher education programmes.
