WOUMAP - Visibility of UMA STEM researchers in pre-service teacher training. Perception and mapping as strategies towards the inclusion of the gender perspective in STEM education

The underrepresentation of women in science, technology, mathematics, or engineering is influenced by gender stereotypes, present from the early stages of compulsory education, an aspect to which the lack of female role models also contributes. It is essential to guarantee equal opportunities and promote inclusive policies from Early Childhood Education, eliminating traditional gender roles and promoting a non-stereotyped choice of STEM areas. Given schools' key role in eliminating these stereotypes, it is relevant to encourage teaching about the role of women STEM researchers in teacher training.
